How the show horses live away from the tour
Take a look behind the scenes at CAVALLUNA with us and discover the CAVALLUNA stables! We will take you on an exciting stable tour, packed with exciting information and insights into the large grounds, the stables and the grazing areas for the horses.
Away from the tour weekends, the horses of the various riding teams live in the CAVALLUNA stables near Krefeld. From October to June, this is their home, where they return after the shows and have a good time. The four-legged stars live in over 60 boxes and are cared for by their owners on a daily basis. The magnificent facility offers extensive grazing areas, a large and a small indoor riding arena, a lunging circle and several paddocks. Whether relaxing in the pasture, long rides, an extensive grooming programme or light training: the CAVLLUNA stables offer everything that makes a horse's heart beat faster.
As on tour, great importance is attached to routine in the CAVALLUNA stables, as this provides the most relaxed atmosphere for the animals and gives them the opportunity to switch off. For example, the horses always stand next to the same box neighbours that they know from the show weekends. They are looked after by ‘their people’, whom they know and trust. If you had to describe the CAVALLUNA stable in three words, they would be: calm, serenity and joie de vivre. And that is exactly what the riders and horses appreciate so much about the beautiful grounds. Away from the noise of the city, all you can hear here is the twittering of birds and the occasional cheerful neigh.
The most important thing about life in the CAVALLUNA stable is that the horses are kept and cared for in a way that is appropriate to their species and their needs. This means: exercise, fresh air, relaxed movement, good food, contact with other horses, clean boxes and lots of love. Of course, we cater to the individual needs of each animal, whether a tiny pony or a gigantic shire horse. Mental variety is also important, which is ensured with rides and light training. Because only completely satisfied and healthy animals come on stage at CAVALLUNA to show the audience what they are made of!
